Networking Event Success for Coventry & Warwickshire's Fashion & Textile sector

The team at Creative hubb have had numerous meetings recently with local companies and individuals who are creating fantastic products or offering unique services, with many of them working alone or in small studios they have been telling us how isolated they feel at times. Having given this some thought, it seemed like a good time for us to set about creating a Coventry & Warwickshire networking group for small businesses, individuals and freelancers working in creative fields; specifically fashion, textiles and creative industries, including any associated areas such as photography, graphic design, printing, costume design, textile artists etc.

Our first event was booked for Friday 21st April 2023 at 10.30am-12.30pm at the impressive Daimler Powerhouse on Sandy Lane in Coventry, home to Imagineer Productions, The Daimler Powerhouse has recently undergone a £2.5million transformation into a fully accessible, dedicated arts and culture space for the production of outdoor and site-specific work. With Imagineers support we were able to use this fantastic space to host our first event. The invitations were sent out, fingers were crossed and we hoped for a good turn out on the day from a variety of companies, skills and expertise.

It was a wet and windy Friday morning and with no previous experience to go by we had no idea who if anyone would turn up, however by 10.30am the room was full and we could breathe a sigh of relief! We were absolutely overwhelmed by the attendance and have recieved some fantastic feedback, with many of our attendees requesting regular events, putting ideas forward and offering their support to pursue funding opportunities to expand and develop the group further.

The group is specifically aimed at professionals within the CV postcode area, the intention is to bring people together to potentially create business opportunities and collaborations but also give people a sense of community and belonging. By connecting local people and businesses we can also support the idea of creating a micro industry where we are working from concept to delivery all within the Coventry and Warwickshire border, thus reducing our carbon footprints and heading towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.

We plan to hold another event in a few weeks (date to be confirmed). If you are based in the CV postcode area, work in any creative fields related to fashion and textiles and would like to know more or attend our next event please email lisa.webb@creativehubb.co.uk to be added to our mailing list.
